Choosing the Right Shutter Style

Choosing the right shutter style for you:

A Comprehensive Guide

Choosing shutters for your home is more than just a functional decision; it's about style, practicality, and personal preference. From complementing your home's aesthetic to optimising light control, here's a guide to help you make the right choice.

1. Style That Suits Your Home
Shutters come in various styles, each offering a distinct look and functionality. Full height shutters provide complete coverage, while café style offers privacy on the lower part of your window. Tier on tier allows independent operation of upper and lower panels, perfect for versatile light control and solid panel shutters offer maximum light control and perfect for period homes. For all shutter styles, it is important to consider the architecture and interior design of your home to find the perfect match.

2. Slat Size for Light Control
The size of slats plays a significant role in controlling light and privacy. Smaller slats, like 63mm, offer a traditional look whilst creating more slats per panel, providing finer light control. Medium to large slats, from 76mm to 89mm, offer a more contemporary aesthetic whilst allowing more light to filter through.

3. Consider Window Access
Shutter configuration depends on how you use your windows. Bi-fold shutters neatly fold away, maximising your window's opening and allowing easy access for cleaning. More of a recommend option, on most windows, would be individual opening panels. We suggest this as we can align each panel to the exact window layout for symmetry, whist supporting durability.
